Rustic Cottage Farmhouse Inspo—Living Room

It happens every year. The glamour of the Christmas season disappears and suddenly the house looks bare and I start to itch for a project or two. I have learned through my years of living in a very small 1100 square foot, 7 foot ceiling house to be content in every season; but it has never stopped me from dreaming.

I love our current home. The high wood ceiling of the living room paired with its floor to ceiling windows. The base of the back part of the house which is an almost 100 year old farm house. The barn that sits off to the side. The beautiful pear trees that line part of the driveway, but it doesn't stop me from dreaming of ways to show it more love.

I have struggled with what to do and how to decorate this house for the last two and a half years. I start going one way and suddenly I'm pulled to another direction and then something else comes along and catches my eyes and it's off to that! I want to quiet the noise of trends and stay true to who I am. That being said, I think it best to list some of my most favorite styles of design. Vintage Modern, Rustic, Cottagecore, and Farmhouse. So..why not blend them into our home? Room by room, piece by piece.

Today I'm sharing some of my most favorite inspirational pictures I've found to help me create a vision board starting in our living room.

1.)Mixed Patterns

I really love the mix of soft patterns. Neutral tones with familiar shapes seem to compliment one another and bring a certain balance to the space. Our home is a rental right now, so playing in pattern through textiles and vessels seems to be a safe and reasonable option.

2.) Gallery Wall

I am loving the look of a gallery wall with vintage frames. I'm not sure that it would work out in our living room, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

3.) Unique Lamps

I am loving the blend of old and new with these lamps. From printed shades to different bases, I love the unique form they bring to the space. I could have one of each of these. Seriously, adore them.

4.) Vintage Finds

And what I mean for this is fun finds that I already love to pick up. Knick knacks, brass pieces, books, etc. I want to continue collecting those items and showcase them more.

That sort of rounds out my vision for our living room with all of the rustic, country, cottage farmhouse feel. I hope you enjoyed this post and look forward to seeing this come to life through junkin' hauls and DIY's.

Thanks for stopping by!
